Na de drakensbergen gingen we over de pas richting Lesotho, Voor mij is dit land nummer 13 in Afrika en land nummer 4 voor dit jaar. Het wordt steeds kouder naarmate we richting Lesotho rijden en je ziet veel mensen met dekens om zich heen! De controle aan de grens is een lange rij maar aan Lesotho zijde waren de formulieren op dus paspoort openen en stempelen maar. Verder Lesotho in zijn prachtige uitzichten op (on) besneeuwde toppen. De weg is soms wat hobbelig maar het is oke. Als we bij pass arriveren om naar Malealea te gaan zien we pas hoe prachtig ons resort/lodge is gelegen. Op de camping blijkt dat we een upgrade krijgen naar een Rondavel omdat het volgens de eigenaar te koud is om te kamperen ( onder nul) In de kamer is geen electriciteit maar wel de speciale warme basotho dekens! Echt nodig met de kou!! We zien de voetbalwedstrijd voor de eerste helft en gaan slapen! De volgende ochtend ga ik voor het eerst pony (paard) rijden in de bergen van Lesotho het is de attractie hier dus een must. We gaan gelijk voor de 4 uurs tocht naar de watervallen! De eerste minuten is het wat onwennig het paard gaat steil naar beneden en het is niet heel comfortabel! Na wat aanpassingen aan het zadel is het beter en gaan we pas echt steil naar beneden, Wat een ervaring op een paard langs de afgrond naar de rivier. Mijn paard heeft af en toe een eigen wil en gaat drinken waarneer het hem uitkomt in het midden van een snelstromende rivier, neemt extra steile ( en dus gevaarlijke) routes! Maar gelukkig weet de pony de weg en gaan we langszaam omhoog naar de watervallen! Volgens de gids is het paard lui, maar ik denk dat het toch echt een knappe prestatie is met een zware last op je rug tegen een helling op, ( ik doe het de pony niet na!) Gearriveerd bij de watervallen nog een hike van 10 minuten naar de watervallen toe! Het is steil, glad en gevaarlijk maar prachtige om tussen de bergen de watervallen te zien! Ik voel me opnieuw zo bevoorrecht om hier te mogen zijn en dit te mogen zien! Het is weer een uitroepteken in deze wereld wat betreft scenery! Nadat we heelhuids weer terug komen op de lodge, bezoeken we s middags nog een dorpje van Bashoto.Heel interessant hoe deze mensen leven! S avonds nog Italie- duitsland gekeken, Wat jammer toch voor de Duitsers dat ze naar huis moeten! In het cafe ontmoet ik nog wat Nederlanders en we maken daar natuurlijk veel lol over! Eva en Janna zijn minder gelukkig met de uitslag! Maar Nino is gelukkig en in ons beste Italiaans feliciteren we hem met de overwinning! De volgende dag gaan we voor een 11 uur lange trip naar East London, op naar een warmere omgeving! De grensovergang is weer hilarisch, In Lesotho krijgen een stempel met de datum 29-06-2002 en de 0 wordt met pen verandert in een 1 In Zuid-Afrika wordt met een vinger al je gegevens in gevoerd en mag ik zeggen waar ik de stempel in mijn paspoort wil hebben! Het is wel wat anders dan een Amerikaanse of Israelische grenscontrole! We arriveren in het donker op de camping maar het is niet zo koud als de nacht ervoor! Vanmiddag wil ik gaan kanoen naar de oceaan! Ik ben benieuwd!! Vanavond misschien nog Portugal- Duitsland kijken. Met een Portugese en Duitse vertegenwoordiging belooft dit weer leuk te worden! Morgen picken drie nieuwe mensen op en Maandag zeggen we Goodbye aan de Italianen in Port Elisabeth

After the Drakensmountains we went over the pass towards Lesotho, For me this is country number 13 in Africa and country number 4 this year. It is getting colder and colder as we head Lesotho driving and you see many people with blankets around them! The control at the border is a long row to Lesotho side but the forms were gone, so open your passport and get the stamp. Furthermore Lesotho in its beautiful views of snowy peaks. The road is sometimes bumpy but it's okay. If we arrive at the pass to Malealea we realize how beautiful our resort / lodge is located. At the campsite that we get an upgrade to a Rondavel according to the owner because it is too cold to camp (below zero) in the room is no electricity but the special hot Basotho blankets! Really need to beat the chill! We see the football game for the first half and go to sleep! The next morning I go for the first pony (horse) riding in the mountains of Lesotho is the attraction here is a must. We go right for the 4 hour trek to the waterfalls! The first few minutes is a little awkward the horse goes straight down and it's not very comfortable! After some adjustments to the saddle is better and we really steep, What an experience on a horse along the cliffs to the river. My horse has an own mind, drinks on ts own time and goes where it him suits him down in the middle of a fast flowing river, take extra steep (and dangerous) routes! Luckily the pony knows the way and we go up slowly up to the waterfalls! According to the guide the horse is lazy, but I think it's really quite an achievement with a heavy load on your back on a slope, (I dont beat the pony!) Arrived at the falls is a hike of 10 minutes to the waterfalls! It is steep and slippery but beautiful from the mountains to the waterfalls! I feel so privileged again to be here and be allowed to see! It's an exclamation mark in this world in terms of scenery! After we come back unscathed at the lodge, the afternoon we visit a village of Bashoto.Heel interesting how these people live! Evening is considered Italy-Germany, What a pity for the Germans that they still have to go home! I met some Dutchies in the cafe and of course we make fun of it! Eva and Janna are less happy with the outcome! But Nino is happy and in our best Italian we congratulate him on winning! The next day we go for a 11 hour long trip to East London, on to a warm environment! This afternoon I want to go canoeing on the ocean! I'm curious! Tonight we will maybe watch Portugal-Germany . With a Portuguese and German representation promise that to be fun again! Tomorrow picking three new people on Monday and we say Goodbye to the Italians in Port Elizabeth
